gogo outside
Next to ramen, CURRY RICE is probably the most popular daily food cooked at home and eaten outside as well. Most people have their favorite curry rice restaurant, but during the last couple of years GO GO CURRY from Kanazawa has become one of ours and also to many others. Go Go Curry has its background from Kanazawa Curry, which was invented by a curry restaurant called CHAMPION. Almost everyone in Kanazawa knows Champion, but no one in Tokyo did since they never had a restaurant here. Since there were many Champion locations in Kanazawa already, the owner of Go Go Curry decided to start his own Kanazawa curry restaurant in Tokyo. He was absolutly right, and now there are 12 restaurants in Tokyo alone and over 30 including New York, Los Angeles & Singapore.

Go Go Curry (or Kanazawa Curry) is completely different from other curry rice's since all the meat and vegetables are cooked until it melts, which thickens the curry. Curry's color is almost black when others are brown and shredded cabbage is added on the side.

Also, most people order it with a Tokatsu (pork cutlet) on top, which is called ROHSU KATSU CURRY and very popular at other curry restaurants as well, but with Kanazawa curry and Go Go Curry add some Okonomiyaki sauce (a sweet brown sauce made out of vegetables and fruits) on it.

They also have CHICKEN KATSU CURRY (Curry Rice with Chicken Cutlet), UINNAR CURRY (Curry Rice with Grilled Sausage), EBI FRY CURRY (Curry Rice with Deep Fried Prawn), but if you are really hungry try MAJOR CLASS CURRY (Extra Large Rice & Curry with Pork Cutlet, Chicken Cutlet, Grilled Sausage, Deep Fried Prawn, Boiled Egg) 1000 yen. I've tried Major Class Curry in the past many of times, when I was really hungry and did barely manage to finish it.

If you need extra shredded cabbage you can order as much as you want because it is free. Just say KYABETSU ONEGAI-SHIMASU (which is "can I have some cabbage please") and they bring you the above.

You will have to purchase your order through a ticket machine, which is only in Japanese. The people at Go Go Curry probably won't speak much English, but just point at picture or tell them what you want to eat and they should push the correct button for you to purchase the ticket. You can add various toppings, which will be shown in picture at the very bottom of the ticket machine including additional curry sauce as well. Also, amount of rice comes in various portions and larger the portion more expensive it becomes. From small to large the names are HEALTHY CLASS, ECONOMY CLASS, BUSINESS CLASS, FIRST CLASS. Most women order ECONOMY CLASS and most men order BUSINESS CLASS, but the standard amount of rice would be ECONOMY CLASS. Also, note that just like ramen shops, curry shops are eat and leave kind of restaurant. You leave as soon as you finish eating, so its not a place for dates or to talk business over.
